SUBJECT: TRANSCRIPT CHANGES
On May 1, 2009, the transcripts that students send to colleges began to contain only FCAT
scores under the assessment section. All other tests (e.g., SAT, ACT,
PSAT, etc.) are no longer
included on student transcripts.
This is the result of College Board’s new “Score Choice” policy that gives students the option to
choose the SAT scores by test date and SAT Subject Test scores by individual test that they send
to colleges. This allows students to put their best foot forward on test day by
giving them more
flexibility in score reporting. By continuing to include these scores on our Browar
County
transcripts, we would violate the student’s right to privacy. These revisions were originally
going to be put into effect next school year. But, the FLDOE removed the fields immediately.
These changes only affect the transcripts that students submit to colleges and do not impact the
daily operations of the school. The test scores remain in our database, schools are still able to
access and use them as they always have, and they can still be transmitted to the DOE and other
secondary institutions for official purposes (e.g., Bright Futures, concordant scores, FACTS.org,
etc.).
Students have always been required to submit their official test scores directly from College
Board and/or ACT to the college, university, or institution of their choice. However, it is
important that students become aware of these transcript changes and understand the process
for transmitting their official scores. School counselors, BRACE Advisors, and Registrars will
receive training on official score reporting procedures and fees as well as free resources
available to inform families of “Score Choice” and related programs. Schools are further
encouraged to notify families of transcript changes through newsletters, websites, classroom
presentations or other methods.

"EVERY CHILD, EVERY CHANCE, EVERY DAY"
|
Dear Hurricanes,
Your work this past semester has been inspiring -- thoughtful, caring, student focused, smart, and fun! When the roller-coaster ride of the upcoming standardized tests gets you down, recall the hopes and dreams of this past semester. When it gets really tough, try to envision the leader you are becoming, not the student you are at that moment. Choose to have a positive mental attitude. The attitude you bring to any situation determines the outcome of that situation. Being positive means taking responsibility for your attitude. It takes hard work, determination and enthusiasm to be positive. Optimistic people think like winners and when you think like a winner you become a winner. See yourself in your mind doing things right. Whatever you can conceive you can achieve! Teamwork affects everything else. Remember that you have a support group at Northeast in every teacher, administrator, and staff member! There is no limit on your potential!
“Every child, every chance, every day.”
